Very often, a title will remain relevant to the Cybrary Catalog, but the need will arise to update it, or directly replace it with something aligned to a new version. In other words, new versions of tools and new editions of certifications regularly hit the market.
Cybrary follows a regular process to make sure you have the latest learning material available, and to alert you when a direct replacement is available for a title that is aging out.
The Content Replacement tool allows us to make a direct recommendation, and importantly, allows us to send messaging out to Learners, Path Owners, and Team Admins about the changing content.
What types of content can be used in a Content Replacement?
Content Replacements can be used for a Course, Lab, Practice Test, Career Path, or Content Collection.
Who receives notifications about Content Replacements?
Enrolled learners, Custom Path Owners, and Team Admins. For Path Owners or Team admins who may need to adjust their custom paths based on changing content, please see: Content Replacement: Custom Paths
What type of notifications should I expect?
The Content Replacement tool will send you an email, alerting you of the change. The Cybrary App will also give a pop-up notification when you next log in.
What happens to the old content (i.e. the content that is being replaced)?
Typically the older content is transitioned to an “Unlisted” state for a grace period before being archived. Rarely, an older piece of content may be immediately archived. This happens if the content is owned by a third party (i.e. Training Partner) and is no longer available.
Do I have to transition to the new content?
No. Unless the older title is being immediately archived, you can choose to stay with and complete the older version. Please read the scheduled archived date in order to make the best decision. For example, if you have a lot of content left to complete, it may be a better idea to transition to the new version.
Will I lose my progress?
The Content Replacement tool will show you how your progress will be impacted by changing to a new version of a course or a path. You will maintain credit for any learning activities you’ve completed that are also used in the new version of the course or path.
Will I lose my certificate of completion?
No. Certificates of completion remain available even after a title is unlisted or archived.
